  • SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Local Offer

Connecting County Durham is run and maintained by Durham County Council. The aim is to make it easier for residents, families, and professionals to find reliable information about support available in the community.

Connecting County Durham is completely free for residents to use and for organisations to register their services.

If you run a group, activity, or support service in County Durham, you can add your details to the directory at no cost.

We want to include services that help local residents to:

  • Have a good life

  • Get involved and find support in their community

  • Stay independent, safe, and well

This can include both community and commercial services, as long as they clearly benefit the care, support, or wellbeing of local people.

All applications are reviewed before being published, and we reserve the right to reject any applications that do not meet our standards.

The criteria and content on the Connecting County Durham Directory are reviewed periodically. This ensures the information remains accurate and relevant. The inclusion/exclusion of organisations may change over time based on updated guidance, emerging community needs, or changes to our inclusion criteria.

Review schedules are currently:

  • Large national organisations – every 3 years

  • Medium-sized or regional organisations – every 2 years

  • Local independent organisations – every year

  • Time-limited events or schemes – every 6 months

We’ll send reminder emails before a review is due.

If details change in between reviews, providers can use the “Suggest a Change” option at any time. Suggested changes are checked and may be adapted to meet our readability and content standards.

We also reserve the right to remove a listing at any time, without notice, if it no longer meets our policies.
